Welcome to That History Couple
We are Coral and Jacky, we’ve been a couple since 2010 and we’ve always been interested in old stones, from cromlechs to castles, Cairns to Churches… and living in Wales, there have been no shortage of these for us to explore together.
But when we began researching the history and legends of these ancient places, we realised that the information available was often severely lacking. Nuanced Studies and Excavation Reports are too often reduced to brief, biased summaries, with no link to the original source. We would establish the Author, Year and Title of a report, and still not be able to track it down without paying! We found ourselves coming up against website paywalls, out of print books only available at astronomical prices, libraries only accessible to people affiliated with that university… Surely more should be done to make this information freely available, and to promote the importance of these amazing sites.
So we started cataloguing as many prehistoric sites as we could on our YouTube channel, CoralJackz. Behind the scenes of making our videos, we go through an extensive process of research, fact checking the sources as well as each others work, contacting various people and institutions to hunt down papers and images… and safe to say, this soon became an obsession.
We’ve been posting our research and photographs on social media, but we thought it was about time we made our own website to properly document and share all of the historic and prehistoric places we love to explore, and some we haven’t made it to yet!
