Waen Llechi Standing Stone

Situated within Bannau Brycheiniog (Brecon Beacons National Parc) in Powys, Wales. Alternative names: Waun Leuci, Waun Lleuci, Fforest Fawr.

This stone boasts stunning views of the Tawe Valley. It’s one of many prehistoric sites dotted about this landscape. We will return to explore the other sites soon and hopefully get some drone shots.

It is mentioned in Aubrey Burl’s ‘The Stone Circles of Britain, Ireland and Brittany’, in a section in which he discusses the stone circles and other monuments nearby:
“..Forest Fawr, 2.1m tall, set like a playing-card, its long axis pointing directly to Maen Mawr. Less than 185m beyond this stone, following its alignment, one comes past the shoulder of the hill and Maen Mawr can be seen on its spur. Its usefulness as a guidestone is apparent.” – https://archive.org/details/stonecirclesofbr0000burl/page/182/mode/2up?q=trecastle&view=theater
